Staying healthy over the festive season

Christmas is by far and away my favorite time of the year. I love walking around shops with the
Christmas songs playing everywhere, all the market stalls are set up - it’s just a wonderful time!
But, the fitness part of me is always a little bit nervous heading into the holiday season.
There are so many extra calories everywhere, it’s hard to stick to a healthy diet and
avoid putting on loads of weight.

As a consequence, every new year starts the same; it a fit of despair as you’ve piled on some extra pounds
and feel bad about yourself. So, you’ll be pleased to know that staying healthy over Christmas is nowhere
near as hard as you think. With just a few changes to your lifestyle, you can remain in
good health and avoid gaining too much weight!

Cut down on the alcohol consumption
I would say alcohol is the main reason people overdo it during the holidays.
The mulled wine gets brought out, everyone has parties, and you start to drink more in
the space of two weeks than you did through the rest of the year!
It’s no coincidence that places like the ANA Treatment Center experience spikes in patients
checking in after Christmas; loads of people drink far too much through the holiday season,
and it damages them! Aside from carrying loads of empty calories,
alcohol harms other parts of your body,
so cut down on it this year. Choose non-alcoholic alternatives - like
some hot spiced apple drink instead of mulled wine.

Is Christmas Already Getting Too Expensive? Find Out How to Reduce the Cost

If you would like to impress your friends and family members, and you have already overspent
for Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it might be time to stop and think.
There are several great ways of making presents look more expensive than they really are,
and you can pick up some great bargains or customize your gifts,
so you don’t have to overspend and pay the price later. Find out more below.
Save Up Your Points

Image via Flickr

One of the smart ways people use to reduce the cost of the holiday season is saving up.
If you haven’t started a saving account yet, chances are that you have several accounts that
allow you to collect points and discounts.
If you use them for your present shopping, you will be able to reduce your spendings and use
 your points for presents.
At the same time, you should check out whether or not any of the retailers offer double
or triple points on purchases.
Look for Multibuy Discounts
If you have a girl squad chances are that buying the same presents for them will be a
good idea, especially if they like the same things. You can get multibuy discounts on eBay and other sites,
so you can save on the full price.
Whether it is cosmetics or jewellery, you can easily track the discount to see if it is worth to buy multiple items.

Obvious Signs Your Girl Squad Is Toxic And What To Do About It?

Being part of a social group is an essential experience for even the most introverted of us,
however, sometimes we can find ourselves in a friendship cohort that feels as if it's doing
more harm than good. In fact, such a group can become toxic,
an experience that is highly unpleasant and that most of us girls have experienced at one time
or another.
Happily,  it is possible to navigate the choppy waters of a toxic friend squad, without going under,
just read on to find out how.

Peer pressure rules

At best peer pressure from a supportive and understanding squad can encourage you to go
beyond your own, self-imposed limitations and push yourself further than you would on your own.
Unfortunately, at worst, peer pressure from a toxic friendship group can get into in all sort of trouble,
including creating significant blocks to kicking harmful habits such as
excessive and problem drinking.

Yes, it can be tough to stand up to a whole group of people that they believe they are right and
are encouraging you to do what they want. Especially when the habit itself, like drinking alcohol, is
so widely socially accepted and even encouraged.

Of course, many people's worry here is that they don't want to lose their standing in the group,
or be made an outsider, something that is actually totally natural,
as humans are, after all, social creatures.
However, you can deal with such a situation effectively by setting clear boundaries,
getting help from a professional like the Stop Drinking Expert, and
making sure you still put effort into your friendships.
Albeit, outside of situations where the problem behavior such as
excessive drinking is the primary goal.

Eating well on a Budget

Eating well is an essential part of living a healthy lifestyle. Your diet impacts your physical and
mental health, your weight, your mood, the appearance of your skin and hair and even your ability to
get a good night's sleep.

Eating well is one of the most important things that you can do for yourself and the best way to take care
of your body and mind.
Teamed with regular exercise, a healthy diet can make a very real difference to your quality of life, your
enjoyment of it, and your life expectancy.

But, eating well can be expensive. Supermarkets always seem to have deals on unhealthy meals,
fast food and sugary snacks.
Even when you eat out, it’s the large, high-fat meals, the big greasy burgers and fries,
that are cheaper.

Healthier food always seems to be more expensive. Especially healthy snacks that are less popular with
consumers. In a time where so many of us are looking for long term secured loans to help us manage our
finances, eating well can just seem too expensive to be feasible.

It doesn’t have to be, however. You can eat well on a budget. It might just take a little more planning and
thought. Here are some tips to help you.

Stock Up on Fruit and Veg

Healthy ready to go snacks are more expensive than chocolate bars and crisps. Even with the sugar tax
But, fruit and veg aren’t. Remember, your snacks don’t have to be trendy or cool. Take a banana out with
you for when you need a pick me up before lunch.

If you do want something more substantial to snack on, like hummus and crudités, make your own
at home instead of buying prepackaged options.

How to break out of Lazy Lifestyle Habits & reach your fitness goals

We all have days when we don’t really want to get active and instead just want to be lazy for most of the
That’s the way things go sometimes, even if we know it shouldn’t really be that way. However, getting to
where you want to be and succeeding in your health and fitness goals demands you stop being lazy.
If it’s happening too often and you want to break out of your lazy ways, here are some ideas to help you.

Start with Small Steps

It all starts with small steps because when you’re being lazy, the desire to do anything is pretty much
But maybe it doesn’t need to be. If you’re willing to go out of your way to take small steps in the right
direction, such as getting up earlier, walking your dog rather than letting your partner do it or walking
rather than getting the bus, you’ll soon be on the right track.

Start Your Day Positively and Actively

Since i love gel type solutions i opted for the 'ST. MORIZ Velvet finish tanning gel' which was a great bargain at under £6 on amazon, anyway lets get into the details...

10 Things its not ok to say to someone with an eating disorder!

As someone who has previously suffered with eating disorders now recovered, i thought i would share some tips on things not to say to someone with an eating disorder.

1. "Why don't you just Eat?"
If only it was that simple, an Eating disorder is a 'Mental illness' emphasis on the 'illness'

2. ''Your so skinny''
This is never a good idea to say to someone with and ed, because all this does is make them feel good and will push them further into their eating disorder.
I remember when friends would say How skinny I was, and this made me feel good, when it shouldn't have, it wasn't good that I was starving myself, throwing up, and forcing myself to do crazy amounts of exercise daily!

3. "Your fat, chubby, normal sized"
Quite the opposite of saying someones skinny, 'fat' never a very nice thing to say to anyone, and especially to someone who suffers from an eating disorder, they already have low self esteem and this could push them over the edge.
Don't even say it as a joke, its best to just steer clear on the topic of weight!

july favourites

Its been a long time since i've shared a favourites post, so i thought i'd share a few things i've been loving this past month..

1. Simple sheet masks
Lets starts with these not so 'simple' sheet masks, these are without a doubt the best sheet masks i have ever used.
Having sensitive skin i have to be very careful about the masks i used on my face, so really didn't expect much from a cheap face mask but after looking at the ingredients there actually pretty decent.
They are extremely soothing, refreshing and moisturising and really help to moisturise the skin and soothe redness, they are covered in essence so no need to even apply moisturiser after using.
They come in 3 different varieties, the 'de-stress mask' the 'moisture mask' and the 'pollution protect mask'.
I can't say i have a favourite since they all serve a purpose, anyway i could go on about these all day, they are really are amazing i recommend you give them a try!
There available at boots for £3 each however tesco has them on offer at the moment for only £1.50 each!

Clarins self tanning instant gel review

Now that were into the summer months i like to trade in my ghostly pale skin for a little tan, because lets face it a sun kissed glow looks much better in a dress than bare legs covered in bruises and veins popping through.
Being very pale and suffering with sensitive skin i always find it difficult finding the perfect tan, i've used many in the past that have been bright orange or just far too highly perfumed.

I'm a fan of the moisturising lotion type tans, however in this sweaty summer weather i find them difficult to work with since there so greasy and take a long time to dry, being sweaty on top of that doesn't exactly help the application.
So i decide to look for something non greasy like a tanning gel, and came across this one from Clarins, with much research i finally took the plunge and purchased the rather pricey clarins gel tan.

This very refreshing, non-oily gel provides an instant, incomparably natural-looking tan. No need to wait before dressing. Use all year round to maintain a beautiful sun-kissed radiance. Without sun exposure, instantly gives skin the warm, golden glow of a natural tan. Pomotes a perfectly even and long-lasting tanned appearance. Helps prevent premature signs of skin ageing.

Coffee Chat update #Endometriosis #CFS

Hi there!

Hope your all well?
You may have noticed i haven't uploaded on here in a while, my health has been pretty bad for the last month so i've just been taking some time out to get better.

As you may know from my blog i suffer from Endometriosis and CFS and it has been in a severe flare up lately, i think the extreme heat has been the culprit, we've been having a heatwave for the past month now in the UK and if you suffer with chronic illness yourself then you'll know that extreme weather conditions can really affect it.

So i've just been trying to focus on my health i've been doing some cleanses and making sure my diets perfect and trying to relax more and get adequate rest.
I've been reading a lot during this time as you do and have found a couple books very helpful regarding chronic illness, so i thought i'd better share them.

The positives of living with chronic illness

We all hear about the negatives of chronic illness because lets face it, it is mostly negative! However like with everything there's positives and negatives so today i thought i'd share with you some of positives i have found living with a chronic illness...

It makes you more 'compassionate'
When your suffering everyday you start to feel empathy for others who are also suffering like yourself.
Your able to understand more about people and put yourself in others shoes.
Compassion is a fantastic trait to have, it seems to be so rare today!

It makes you smarter
When you live with mystery or very little known illness's you start to learn big words like myalgic encephalomyelitis.
And you pretty much become your own doctor, you learn so much more about the human body and mind, things that you never thought existed.

High pain tolerance
Ofcourse when you live with chronic pain its obviously extremely unpleasant and you never really get used to it, but you do however start to develop a high pain tolerance for everything else in life, like when you accidentally cut yourself or you have tooth ache, you get punched in the face, ''didn't feel a thing'' (little exaggeration) but you get what i mean.
You almost don't feel compassionate when others suffer with these things, because you have to endure far worse on a daily basis!

My Top 10 most inspiring movies

To start off I'd like to say making this list was really hard, I love so many movies and have always been so inspired by many but here it is, my Top ten most inspiring movies and if you haven't seem them already I recommend you watch them!

1. Mean Girls
This has to be one of my favourite movies its just a classic funny, girly and dramatic it just never gets old no matter how many times i watch it.
The biggest lesson mean girls taught me is that "on Wednesdays we wear pink" haha, no seriously it taught me to be kind and non judgemental and work hard, yes the movies funny because its just the right amount of bitchy and superficial, but at the end of the movie you see that Cady goes back to her old innocent self and everyone manages to get along despite their differences, and that's how high school and life should be. ''I wish we could all just get along like we did in middle school''

2. Legally Blonde
Another of my faves again its girly, witty, and motivating.
I find Elle's character as a whole very inspiring she goes to Law School and just proves everyone who ever doubted her wrong, sure she starts off going to law school for the wrong reasons but it turns out to be a success in the end.
She proves that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, she comes across as your stereotypical, rich ditsy blonde white girl, when in reality she has the smarts to go far.
Elle is a risk taker and go getter, and she is extremely kind to everyone and animals which i just love about her character.
I don't know about you but I feel like after watching legally blonde Elle inspired every girl to become a Lawyer and wear a full pink suit!

3. Clueless
An absolute classic the 90s were definitely the good old days, Cher seems like your average rich girl who only cares about fashion and popularity.
But throughout the movie she proves she is so much more, she is helpful, kind, smart and classy.
I love that she wants happiness for everyone and acts like a little matchmaker.
I also love that a strong female lead in a movie is saving her virginity for the right guy, you don't see that in a lot of teen movies or in real life and i think its very admirable and a cher is a great role model to young viewers.
And Cher also proves its okay to date your step-brother 'joking' no judgement though!

My boyfriends parents don't like me! how to handle it?

How could they possibly not like me?
I was so polite, and kind and funny whats not to like about me?
You keep going over in your head what you could have possibly done wrong to make them dislike you, well the truth is people just don't like you sometimes!
It happens no matter how good of a person you are not everyones going to like you.

It is more common than you would think when it comes to your other half's 'rents'.
It's even more so common with mother's and their son's especially if they are an only child, thats their only son so they tend to be very protective.

One of the many reasons mothers tend to dislike their son's girlfriends is 'jealousy'
There's now a new lady in the centre of their son's life and she's young and hot and that's a bitter pill to swallow, when she was the only lady in his life up until now.

So what can you do?

Well you can't make them like you but you can make them at least treat you cordially, so here are my tips having dealt with it myself and still having to deal with the 'monster in law' technically not my 'mother in law' but you know what i mean...

Tarte Amazonian clay foundation review

I'm very exited to do this review today of the 'Tarte Amazonian clay Foundaation' this is my first time trying any Tarte product! I've been wanting to try one of their foundations for a while now, I love the whole ethos of the brand they use natural healthy ingredients and their cruelty free and vegan and their packaging is natural looking yet fun and girly.

I am usually a fan of more natural looking satin finish foundations, however when your skin has a few blemishes or you just want to go for a more glamorous look, i think its always safe to have a slightly thicker foundation on back up.

Clinique beyond perfecting Foundation + Concealer

I've been on the hunt for the perfect foundation for a while now as you do! I've always been a fan of Clinique products since i was a teen and my foundation for many years was their 'super balanced foundation', since then i tried a few other brands but somehow found myself back on Clinique.

I decided to try out their 'beyond perfecting foundation + concealer', the thing that drew me to this one of course was that its a foundation & concealer in one, never been a fan of 2in1's but I'm trying to save money so what better way than to have 2 products in one!

The foundation is a liquid formula however slightly thicker than your usual liquid foundation, after all it is a concealor as well.
Despite it being thicker it is surprisingly easy to blend, and has a natural satin finish but also very moderate to heavy coverage.

Coping with Social Anxiety + My experience

Social Anxiety is the fear of being in social situations, like
Shyness only much more extreme.
People with social phobia are afraid of embarrassing themselves in public, and feel that others are constantly judging them in a negative way.
They often worry ahead of time before a social situation of all the possible things that could go wrong, and also dwell on things after the event, that they think went wrong.
Social anxiety makes it very difficult for you to talk to others and make friends and form relationships, often people with social anxiety get very nervous talking with someone, that they will get physical symptoms of anxiety such as blushing, excessive sweating, dizziness, light headedness, mind going blank, and clumsiness.
Social Anxiety can be a very lonely depressing illness as we all do need some human contact.
I'm going to share my Social Anxiety story and some tips on how to cope with the condition and get better.

My experience

I have suffered with social Anxiety all my life, I remember being at school, I was always painfully shy.
I found it very difficult making friends and being able to trust others, which I think stemmed from the abuse I faced as a child.
I was always afraid to talk and felt like my opinion didn't matter, and that others would judge me or laugh at me. I was so shy that if someone said 'hi' to me I couldn't even say it back I would just smile, which probably made me seem very rude, which made me even more anxious that people would think that.
As I grew older I think my social anxiety got even worse as others would start to notice it, people would always say I'm too quiet, or "you never talk" and this made me feel even more uncomfortable.
I had a lot of body image issues growing up, so I think this led my social anxiety to be worse, as I was always worrying about how I looked, and thought other people were judging me too.
I never made any close friends at school and I was always alone, I would sit and read in the library every lunchtime, and I was a very isolated child, which obviously wasn't good for me as it made my social skills terrible, I just didn't know how to talk to people.

When I finally left home at 18 and went to university this was when I noticed, there was something different about me.
Everyone was confident and sociable and friendly, but I was just so quiet and shy I felt like there was something wrong with me and I never made any friends, which made me feel like nobody liked me.
I was so Lonely and got so depressed by this.

"At it's worst, I couldn't even make a phone call, or leave the house,  I was so afraid of having to talk, or people judging me".

I finally made 1 friend a year later who I lived with in a shared house, she was very sociable and friendly, so was easy to talk to.
Although I never felt fully comfortable around her, it was nice having someone to talk to.
Through this friend is how I met my boyfriend, which I honestly never thought I would find, as I was just so socially anxious.
And now for the first time ever I actually have someone in my life who I can truly be my self around, which is completely rare for me.
Although it did take a while for me to be myself around him, I was able to open up.

I still suffer with social Anxiety today but it has improved, here are some tips for coping with social Anxiety.

Paula's Choice Skincare Review

Paula's choice skincare has to be without a doubt the best skincare brand I have come across, this brand literally saved my skin so i thought i would share how awesome it is with you.
I'm very interested in skincare and its something i research a lot into before purchasing, after finding Paulas choice I have since learn't so much more about skincare and the kind of ingredients you should avoid putting on your skin, even natural ingredients, which happen to be in many skincare brands.

My Journey to finding Paula's choice

I'd never had any problems with my skin before even as a teen i never got breakouts and was always very lucky with my skin.
I've always been a healthy eater, and loved using high quality products such a clinique, which i think helped, but i think most of my good skin was down to genetics.

However unfortunately for me since starting the use of the 'mirena IUD' last year i began suffering with very problematic skin, from huge pimples to very dry skin and blackheads.
Usually i would have just said "forget this" and took the mirena out!
However if you follow my blog then you will know i suffer from a chronic hormonal condition 'Endometriosis'.
I had surgery for Endometriosis last year and as many of you ladies with Endo will know they put you straight onto hormone treatments to help the endometriosis.
I've never liked the idea of taking pills or having a foreign object in my body but since i have Endo i didn't really have much choice.

For the first six months of the mirena my skin was freaking out and i knew i had to do something about it because it was really getting me down.
So i searched everywhere about treatment for hormonal breakouts and couldn't really find much information that wasn't telling me to use another drug, until i came across Paulas Choice.
There was tonnes of information about treating breakouts and problematic skin and the products had such great reviews.
They also offered a 30 day money back guarantee if the products didn't work so i thought what have i got to lose?

The products are quite expensive, however it was no more than i was paying for clinique products
and the brand is cruelty free so i'd been looking for a good quality cruelty free brand for a while.
I started with basics a cleanser, toner and moisturiser, i decided to go with the Earth sourced range as it was the best value, suitable for all skin types even rosacea prone skin, and is made from 99% natural ingredients.

Within a week of using Paulas choice i could already see changes in my skin it felt soothed soft and the dry patches were all gone.
No longer did my skin feel greasy or tight like it had done previously.
Within a month i had no breakouts, no dry patches or redness and my skin was clear again.
I still suffer with the occasional breakouts around that time of the month but nothing like it was before.

Taurus season

Now that were into the Taurus season, as a Taurus myself I thought I'd share with you all about the Star-sign. I've always been passionate about astrology and read my horoscope almost everyday and i truly do believe in it.
Yes I'm probably that annoying friend that's always going on about the different star signs and their traits!

Taurus is the second sign in the Zodiac, the ruler of Taurus is in Venus which is all about femininity.
Venus is the planet of Love, beauty, attraction, creativity and gratitude.
The Element of Taurus is Earth, which makes them grounded, pratical and in touch with nature.

Taurus traits
This star sign is a lover of the finer things in life, including good food, fine clothing, beauty, they just enjoy pleasure, and like to be surrounded by love and comforts.
Despite having such high tastes, the Taurus is very down to earth and realistic.
The Taurus are very loyal, reliable, stable and conservative yet sensual.
Stability is very important to a Taurus so it comes as no surprise that if they don't feel stability in their life they become quite anxious, and their not usually big risk takers.

How to Move to London on a budget?

So you want to move to the big smoke?, but your short on pennies?

I moved to London from Sheffield all on my own at 18years old penniless and full of dreams, so I thought I'd share with you my story and some tips on how I managed to do that.

I'd always dreamed of living in a big city, I visited New York in 2009 and fell head over heels in love.
Since it was practically impossible for me to be able to move to New York from England, I figured London would be the next best thing!

I've always been a creative person and was passionate about Fashion, and was about to complete my BTEC National Diploma in Fashion and Textiles.
Our college lecturers were preparing us for University, and they all warned us not to go to study Fashion in London, they 'said' how hard it was to get onto Creative courses in London and how expensive it was to live there.
But being my stubborn taurus self i was determined to prove them wrong, I applied to London only universities and was super pleased with myself when I got offered a space on a Fashion Design Degree.

I moved to London with absolutely no money!
I had jobs since I was 14 but I was never a saver, always a spender, what can I say?.. I love shopping!
literally I had a £10 in my purse, and I paid my first months rent with my student overdraft, which set me back £500 a month, for a tiny little room in a shabby old shared house.

Vegan egg recipe

Yes you saw that right a Vegan egg recipe, sounds a little strange but its pretty great.
I came up with this recipe as I'm trying to incorporate more protein into my diet, (gotta get those gains), so i wanted to make something similar to an egg that has lots of protein and is much healthier, its a perfect alternative for vegans and non vegans a like, whether your trying to cut back on dairy products or just want a change this is the recipe for you.
