How to handle christmas alone?

Christmas is the time of year all about family, getting together with loved ones and enjoying
one an-others company.
However christmas is not like this for everyone, not everyone actually has family for whatever reason, and this time of year can be especially hard for those of us.

For the last 4 years I have actually spent christmas alone due to not having any family, it may sound sad to some, but i actually manage to make this time alone enjoyable, sure i'd love to have a family, but the christmas's i've spent alone were a damn lot better than the ones i ever spent with my toxic family growing up.

For those of you who may be spending christmas alone this year I thought i'd share with you some ideas on how to make your christmas alone enjoyable...

Treat yourself
Christmas tends to revolve a lot around gifts, i don't think thats what its all about, but it is nice to receive a gift sometimes.
So if nobody's going to get you one then there's nothing wrong with treating yourself, whether there's something you've been eyeing for a while, or its just a very small modest gift, go get it! you work hard and deserve it!

Give
Whether that be giving your time, money or a gift, give to someone else it will make them feel special and you will feel good too!
Obviously if you don't have family to give to you could give to a friend, a colleague, the nice lady who always serves you your coffee, your trusted hairdresser, your neighbour, or the homeless man you see daily.

Charity
Christmas is all about giving and what better way to spend your time than giving to charity, there's tonnes of places you can volunteer at for christmas at a homeless shelter, children's home, or animal shelter, its really amazing to be able to help those less fortunate.
And if you don't have the ability to volunteer, you can always give money to a charity, or give some christmas gifts to a charity, or simply going around your local town and giving out blankets, clothing, food and warm drinks to the homeless, or take to the homeless shelters.
This year I'm doing some volunteer work and I'm so excited!

Do something nice for yourself
Whether that be watching some christmas movies, treating yourself to some eggnog and a mince pie, or even going all out and cooking yourself a top christmas dinner, don't feel bad about only making food for one its ok to treat yourself!
And if you don't feel like cooking take yourself out for a christmas dinner.
And if you have a large budget then why not take yourself on holiday for christmas or a few nights stay at a nice hotel.

Every year when spending christmas alone i like to watch lots of festive movies because christmas movies are just lovely.
I snuggle with my dog and get her lots of pressie's cos she's the only family i need, so if you've got pets then you really won't be alone this christmas!
I also go all out on christmas eve and get myself all my fave foods, and treat myself to a few cocktails.

Hope you liked this post and found it helpful!
Let me know your thoughts? how are you spending christmas?

And if you are spending christmas alone, try not to feel sad and take care of yourself!
I'll be thinking of you
Hope you have a Have a merry christmas!
