How to get into a Fashion University in London?

Now that its getting close to Freshers Enrolments at University, I thought I would give some tips on those looking to get onto a Fashion Degree, whether that be this year or next, or in the future these tips may be helpful to you.
As someone who did a Degree in Fashion at a prestigious London University I thought I would give some insight on how to actually get into one because its a lot harder than most people think!

1. Be extremely Passionate about Fashion
Many people think that fashion courses are easy, fun and Glamourous, whilst they are fun if thats what you enjoy, its very competitive and far from glamorous the majority of the time.
If you don't Eat, Breath and sleep Fashion then its probably not for you!

2. Have had some Experience
They usually expect you to have studied some sort of Fashion or creative course whether that be at college, I studied a BTEC National Diploma in Fashion & Textiles.
Doing an Internship in Fashion is usually a good level of experience, however if you are exceptionally talented you may not need these.

3. Have a strong portfolio
Your portfolio is usually the deciding factor, when you go to your interview you are expected to take a portfolio of work, and they are looking for the most outstanding, you could have little to no qualifications, but with an amazing portfolio your in!

4. Great Interview skills
Be prepared for them to put you on the spot when interviewing, they tend to be very judgemental, so make sure you've got good comebacks and are up to date on the latest going on in the Fashion Industry.

5. Be Competitive
There's usually not many spots on creative courses on my course they chose only 60 students out of the 5,000 that interviewed.
So you must try to stand out from the crowd, whether that be through your potfolio, your style, or your personality, all of these really make a difference.

Hope you found this post helpful! Let me know if you would like more posts on the Fashion industry and life at a Fashion University?

Good look with getting into Fashion college!
